The Hurst Fire Department is set to announce their Community Emergency Response Team during their Open House on September 28 at Hurst Fire Station one.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training is designed to help citizens help themselves and their families in the event of a catastrophic disaster. Due to the fact that emergency services personnel will not be able to help everyone immediately following a disaster, CERT is a free training course that aims to provide citizens with basic information for preparedness and techniques when dealing with emergencies. Training covers basic skills including first aid, recognizing natural and manmade hazards in our local communities, disaster preparedness such as emergency plans and disaster supply kits, hazardous material emergencies and basic fire suppression. Upon completion of the training course, the CERT members will become assets to the community with the ability to conduct basic life saving operations immediately following a disaster.

The Hurst CERT program will be open to anyone that lives or regularly works in the city of Hurst. With the first initial training scheduled for Spring 2014, the CERT Coordinator, Ryan Ingoglia, will be present to answer any questions as well as recruit those interested in being part of leadership team.

The Hurst Open House will take place from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM on September 28, 2013. It will be located at the Hurst Fire Station located at 2100 Precinct Line RD Hurst, TX 76054. For additional information on the Hurst CERT Program you can contact 469-251-2155 or email
